How do you start the home selling process? I’ll give you a brief overview of the entire process today.
The first thing you should do is contact a real estate agent. An agent should give you a good idea of what the process will look like. Your agent will go over things like costs, time frames, and what’s going to happen once your home is on the market.
When interviewing real estate agents, it’s important to ask what makes them different. What are they going to do to market the home? What is their track record? What is their average days on market? Have these questions ready when interviewing multiple agents.
The second step is to decide on an asking price. You want to work with an agent who will recommend the best possible price for your home. However, make sure that the agent isn’t recommending an inflated number just to get you to hire them. At the end of the day, the home will be on the market with no showings and no offers because it’s way overpriced.

Next, prepare the home for the market. There are a few things you can do that will help sell your home without costing too much. Decluttering your home is extremely important. Make sure there is just enough furniture in each room. Depersonalize the home and make it comfortable for the masses. You can also touch up scuffs on the walls with fresh paint to make the home feel fresh and clean.
Once the home is on the market, there are a few things you will need to do differently. After all, living in a home that’s on the market is not the same as living in a home that’s not for sale. You need to keep your property ready for showings at all times, so keep things picked up and clean. Make sure the lighting is ready to go through each room, and set the thermostat at a comfortable temperature.
After you get an offer on your home, you will review the offer with your agent and go through negotiations. As real estate agents, we will help you through accepting the offer, negotiating potential inspection items as requested by the buyer, and planning your move so that everything goes as smoothly as possible.
